A conceptual presentation of the Riverside Bluesfest was formally made to the St. Marys City Council this evening.

The Bluesfest organizing committee is guardedly optimistic about the Council's reception of the proposal, as initial reactions were generally favorable. However, the official decision will not be made for some weeks at least, while Council discusses the plan in committee and future Council meetings.

In the meantime, the Guild continues to seek additional volunteers interested in assisting with the project. Approximately a dozen people attended tonight's Council meeting in support of the Bluesfest, and more are always welcome. Please submit the Contact Form found by clicking the "Interested?" link to the left. ["Interested" link was later changed to "Volunteer"]

A draft of ideas for the first Riverside Bluesfest was released to local authorities today.

"Heads-up" discussions with City of St. Marys, Ohio, and St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce officials have been as positive as could be hoped, for preliminary talks 57 weeks before the event. Further meetings between City officials and Bluesfest planners will take place, but the event concept has been well-received and plans are moving forward on that basis. A web domain has been ordered and marketing plans are in development.

Interested parties in St. Marys, Ohio are joining forces to plan, promote and present a large-scale musical event. If everything falls into place, the first annual Riverside Bluesfest will take place in K.C. Geiger Park on Saturday, September 1, 2007 (Labor Day weekend).

The St. Marys Blues Guild, in cooperation with the managing K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Committee, is currently enlisting volunteers to assist in planning. Anyone with a background in law, electrical, contracting & construction, entertainment & promotion or law enforcement is needed, although everyone is welcome. This event will require more than 100 volunteers and staff.

Pending the first major milestone - official approval from the City of St. Marys - an aggressive 15-month timeline has been charted to ensure a professional and memorable event.

Pending Charter ratification, interested parties can contact the St. Marys Blues Guild at:
