The Sugar Thieves.
Prepare to "Shake that meat!" The St. Marys Blues Guild welcomes The Sugar Thieves to St. Marys and K.C. Geiger Park to the 2010 Riverside Bluesfest on Labor Day weekend.

Out of the ordinary in more ways than one, The Sugar Thieves make the long trip to St. Marys from Phoenix, Arizona, by way of Memphis, Tenneessee, where members of the St. Marys Blues Guild caught their act at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in January.

Vocalist/songwriter Meredith Moore moved from Omaha to the Phoenix area to study at Arizona State University. A duo she and local blues guitarist Mikel Lander formed in 2007 soon became noticed and grew into The Sugar Thieves.

The Sugar Thieves combine sultry, delta blues with high-energy performances of original music that leave audiences on their feet knowing they've seen something, now. Whether it's Lander's gravelly voice or Moore's silky one, or harp and keyboardist Shea Marshall playing two saxes at once to Dave Libman's drumbeat, the Sugar Thieves surprise and delight the audience.

The St. Marys Blues Guild saw the performance that won The Sugar Thieves the "People's Choice Award" at the Old Daisy Theater in Memphis this year. Plan to find out why The Sugar Thieves were twice voted the best blues band in Arizona, and one of the ten best bands at the International Blues Challenge in 2009.

And if your meat's not shakin' before they're done, check your pulse. You might not have one.
