Whereas:
  • Certain Persons inhabiting St. Marys, Ohio and Environs have independently developed Strong Affinity for the distinctly American musical art form known as the Blues; and furthermore
  • Said Persons, in their Isolation, have come to Despair of association with others of like Passion, there being No Existing Entity to Find and Unite them; and furthermore
  • Among said Persons are some number of them Rife with Ambition to host an annual live perfomance Blues Event of Surpassing Quality, to be held for the Benefit of K.C. Geiger Park specifically and for that of the Local Economy generally.

Therefore, it is Hereby Proposed:

  • that an Association of Like-Minded Individuals be formed, for the Express Purpose of advancing and perpetuating both Appreciation For and Enjoyment Of the Blues; and furthermore
  • that said Association shall be known as the St. Marys Blues Guild; and furthermore
  • that the St. Marys Blues Guild shall operate as a Non-Profit Organization under the auspices of the St. Marys Community Foundation; and furthermore
  • that Guild Members shall Gladly Pay into the Common Treasury an annual symbolic Pittance in Open Declaration of their Good Standing in the Guild, not less than $20 nor more than a Quorum of all Members shall determine in Open Vote; and furthermore
  • that Guild Members in Good Standing shall enjoy such Benefits as a Quorum of all Members shall determine in Open Vote, under Restriction Only that the Guild Common Treasury may not realize a Net Annual Loss as a result of said Benefits; and furthermore
  • that regular Meetings shall be held, at such Locations as may be found Most Hospitable, at such times as may permit Sufficient Recovery, for the Edification and Entertainment of Guild Members; during said Meetings to take place such Planning of Events as may be Necessary to effect the Purposes of the Guild; and furthermore
  • that Guild Officers shall be Annually Chosen as a Quorum of all Members shall determine in Open Vote; under Restriction Only that a Member shall serve in any Office neither longer than Two Years in Succession nor Eight Years in Total.

Agree to Honor and Abide By this Charter as herein Proposed.

St. Marys Blues Guild Goals:

  • To Promote live performance Blues Events at such Locations as may be found Most Hospitable, the Proceeds of which shall be divided as may be Individually Agreed between the Proprietors of said Hospitable Locations and the Guild Common Treasury.
  • To Attract such Vast Numbers of Guild Members in Good Standing as may entice Proprietors of Hospitable Locations into said Agreements to Promote live Blues Events to the mutual benefit of both the Proprietors and the Guild.
  • To Establish, Promote and Manage one annual live Blues Event to be held at K.C. Geiger Park, the proceeds of which shall: 1) finance the following year’s Event; 2) provide for the gradual development and maintenance of the Park Event venue; and 3) benefit the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Fund.

We the Undersigned do Hereby Ratify and Endorse this Charter, thereby Officially Establishing the St. Marys Blues Guild...

The St. Marys Blues Guild holds regular meetings for planning and coordinating the Bluesfest on the second Thursday of each month. The next committee meeting will take place at 7:00 pm, Thursday February 11, 2010, at the Knotty Pine Tavern in St. Marys. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend our meetings.
