Injured Driver Benefit Planned
Midwest Auto Racing Charities (MARC) has scheduled the annual injured driver’s memorabilia show and auction for Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Celina, Ohio, Eagles Lodge, starting at 9 AM. The auction will begin at 2 PM.
The benefit features vendors selling a variety of sports collectibles and memorabilia and an auction of racing memorabilia. Also planned is a round table discussion with drivers from area tracks. Larry Boos, Director of Operations at Eldora Speedway, will be moderator for the discussion.
The Racing School’s 4 lap “Ride with a Pro” will be auctioned off as well as items autographed by Tomas Scheckter, “Dancing” Helio Castroneves, Sam Hornish, Jr., Michael and Mario Andretti, “Fast” Jack Beckman, Ron Capps, John Force, Angelle Sampy, Richard Petty, Jimmy Johnson, Kurt Busch, J. J. Yeley, Dave Blaney, Richard Childress, Kris Patterson, Donnie Moran, Chub Frank, Jackie Boggs, Dave Darland, Rob Chaney, Levi Jones, and more.
Memorabilia includes autographed helmets, flags, hero cards, banners, shirts, sheet metal, and items are still coming in. “We‘ve spent a lot time during the summer going to various racing events to collect items for this auction,” says Dave Schwartz, MARC President, “and I think the race fan will enjoy the memorabilia and the comraderie at the January 12th benefit.”
MARC also sponsors a benefit auction at Eldora Speedway in June. All proceeds from both events benefit drivers, crew members, and track officials who are injured at local racing events.
