ST. MARYS, OHIO -- Nashville blues guitarist Stacy Mitchhart and his seven-piece band “Blues You Can Use,” are scheduled to be on stage at the 2008 Riverside Bluesfest, Aug. 30, at K.C. Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio.
“Our goal is to present a diverse range of talented blues artists,” Riverside Bluesfest Operations Chairman Chris Botkin said. “Stacy Mitchhart and his band have a unique sound, a huge fan following and a reputation for incredible live performances. You’re not going to want to miss the opportunity to see these guys on the Riverside Bluesfest stage.”
Originally from Cincinnati, Mitchhart has been performing out of Nashville for more than a decade, where he has produced seven albums and a DVD. Mitchhart won the 2003 Albert King Award for Best Guitarist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. He has toured internationally and has had numerous television appearances on PBS, TBS, HBO, and Monday Night Football.
In Nashville, Mitchhart has won the Music City Blues Society Awards for ‘Blues Entertainer of the Year,’ and ‘Blues Guitarist of the Year.’ Whether playing Nashville or on the road, the thing that Mitchhart likes most about his audience is it’s wide mix of music fans.
“They are basically not blues fans, but come out to see my show because it’s good entertainment,” he said. “I want people when they walk out of there that not only did they get their money’s worth, but if they had paid twice or three times that amount, they would feel that got their money’s worth.”
The Riverside Bluesfest is a celebration of the Blues music genre, held annually during Labor Day weekend at K.C. Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio. The celebration includes live music, food, refreshments and related activities in a family-friendly atmosphere. A production of the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Committee, the Riverside Bluesfest is a not-for-profit event with proceeds going toward the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Fund.
Mitchhart will join the Jimi Vincent Band on stage along with three other internationally-known artists yet to be announced. Tickets will go on sale Memorial Day and will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show.
