ST. MARYS -- The St. Marys Eagles Lodge Aerie 767 opens the 2009 blues year with a Friday night live music show.
The Jon Justice Band will perform at the Eagles (404 East Spring Street) from 8:00 pm until midnight next Friday, January 16. Based in the Cincinnati area, the Jon Justice Band is made up of Jon Justice (guitar and vocal), Wade Baker (bass), Eric Manweiller (drums) and Ben Walkenhauer (sax).
This is the band's second performance at the St. Marys Eagles lodge, and their fourth trip to play in St. Marys. The Jon Justice Band was the headline act for last year's Bluesfest Kick-Start show at KC Geiger Park on Friday of Labor Day weekend.
The show will introduce the 2009 Riverside Bluesfest "Blues Challenge," a series of battle-of-the-blues-bands competitions to determine the opening acts at this year's Riverside Bluesfest. Coming Blues Challenge dates and band pairings will be announced at the show.
The St. Marys Eagles are a primary sponsor of the Riverside Bluesfest. Organized in St. Marys in 1904, the Eagles' stated mission is "To promote the general welfare of the citizens of St. Marys by giving special attention to public improvements and public needs and all that relates to the betterment, convenience and comforts of St. Marys residents, and to do any and all things necessary to encourage social activities among our members."
The Riverside Bluesfest is a non-profit fundraising event held over Labor Day weekend by the KC Geiger Park Committee: all proceeds benefit KC Geiger Park.
