January 27, 2009 - Press Release
United Way of Auglaize County Announces Gap in Funding

The United Way of Auglaize County has received all of its funding requests for 2009 and as expected the need is greater than the means.

"Our agencies aren't asking for an outlandish amount of money when you consider how much the need has increased with a bad economy." Said Randy Fisher Executive Director of the United Way of Auglaize County.

"What they’ve ask for however is about twice as much as we are able to help with." Fisher added.

The United Way of Auglaize County currently funds 20 partner agencies. Agape Ministries, American Red Cross, Appleseed Ridge Girl Scout Council, Auglaize County Crippled Children/Adults, Auglaize County Council on Aging, Auglaize County Crisis Center, Auglaize/Mercer ABLE/GED, Auglaize County Visiting Nurses Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Black Swamp Area Boy Scouts, Cancer Association of Auglaize County, Catholic Social Services, Children’s Developmental Center, Family Resource Center/We Care, Mercy Unlimited, Mobility Foundation, Northwest Ohio Conductive Education, SOURCES, State of the Heart Hospice, and the St. Mary’s Community Youth Center. All working together on the building blocks for a better life: Financial Stability, Education and better health.

Fisher stated "As it stands one in two residents of Auglaize County will use a service provided by one of these agencies at some point in their lifetime. Making it all the more essential that these agencies are funded so that they can impact our community."

"2009 may be a tough year for our community but if you can help bridge our gap between what these agencies need and what we currently have to give it could make a huge difference."

The United Way of Auglaize County positively impacts our community by focusing on the building blocks to a better life: Education, Health, and Financial Stability. We are a local organization serving local needs. For more information or to make a donation please contact our office at 419-739-7717 or visit our website at www.auglaizeunitedway.org.
