OTTAWA - The Ottawa-Glandorf Titans competed in their 1,000th game as a program on Tuesday night in a blowout win over Wapakoneta. ...Division III's fifth-ranked Titans set two school records with a defensive performance that held the St. Marys Roughriders to 3-of-34 shooting and 10 points less than the program's previous best in a 64-14 Western Buckeye League win on Friday night at Hermiller Gymnasium in Ottawa.

$1 store to add to Square

ST. MARYS - Developers with a local shopping center say the addition of a nationally known store will make a perfect addition to St. Marys. A new Dollar Tree store is slated to open in the coming weeks at the St. Marys Square. The shop, where all items are $1, will fill a void in the center.

ST. MARYS - On a night the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans dominated the offensive glass, St. Marys was the team that got the final and deciding offensive putback. Erika Thornsberry pulled down a missed shot and put it back in as the clock ran out in the overtime period, giving St. Marys a 51-49 win over the Titans at McBroom Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Officers shocked by Taser training

ST. MARYS - Officers with the St. Marys Police Department will now be carrying Tasers, a tool the police chief says should be a valuable resource. During the past few days, officers received training on how to handle the Tasers from Sgt. Jake Sutton - a certified Taser instructor.

ST. MARYS - The wrath of the largest snowfall of the year was felt throughout the city Wednesday as many residents dug out driveways and sidewalks. As another snow storm fell on St. Marys, schools cancelled, children went sledding and adults tried to keep up on shoveling. Mack Peterson was shoveling his sidewalk in St. Marys Wednesday afternoon - shortly after a storm that dumped 9 inches of snow pulled out of the area.

Celina man gets additional three years in prison

CELINA -- A 20 year old Celina man, who is already serving a 13 year prison sentence for breaking into an area home and attempting to sexually assault a young girl at knifepoint in June of 2006, has been sentenced to an additional three years for a burglary at an area home that occurred priot to the offense.

Cridersville bank robbed at gunpoint

CRIDERSVILLE - Two masked men in heavy winter coats robbed a Cridersville bank at gunpoint early Tuesday afternoon. The bandits fled to a nearby car and made their getaway before police arrived. The heist took place around 12:40 p.m. at the Chase bank, 609 E. Main St., village Police Chief John Drake said.

City targets historic land

ST. MARYS - St. Marys city councilors held the first reading of an ordinance to set aside funds for the purchase of a historical property site at their Monday night meeting. The ordinance would appropriate $12,000 to come from the city's Capital Improvements Fund toward the purchase of the designated "Girty property," in addition to the closing costs of the property, which Law Director Kraig Noble said should not exceed $50.

Red light cameras now city law

LIMA - City Council authorized the city's red light camera enforcement program Monday, creating an $85 civil penalty for owners of cars caught on video running red lights at marked intersections. The city's first camera will be installed at the intersection of East North Street and Central Avenue, the city's most dangerous intersection, possibly within a month.

CELINA -- Three subjects are facing charges in Celina Municipal Court after a series of confrontations at Club Oasis early Sunday morning led to police deploying a taser against one unruly suspect. Jason Dross, (35), Celina, Derick L.Gregory, (35), Celina and Austin Soloman, (21), of St. Marys were each charged with disorderly conduct.
