MARYS — A local law enforcement official says the route between St. Marys and Dayton is one frequently traveled by heroin users and dealers across Auglaize County. “As long as I can remember working with the Grand Lake Task Force, all of the heroin we purchased originated in Dayton,” St. Marys Patrolman and Task Force member Kim Reiher said.

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati has filled its defensive coordinator position by hiring Bob Diaco, who was a defensive coach at Virginia. The Bearcats also promoted two coaches on Wednesday. Defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs was given the title of associate head coach, and special teams coach Mike Elston was elevated to assistant head coach. Both will keep their current roles.

DAYTON — Officers in Dayton say a St. Marys man was shot in the throat Monday night following a botched drug deal. According to a police report from the Dayton Police Department, a 911 call was placed at 8:58 p.m. Monday stating that a man had been shot in the throat in the 2200 block of Oakridge Drive in Dayton.

ST. MARYS — Thirteen young men listen intently as one of their own in front of the room speaks to them about two options of a fundraiser they are starting. The young men vote on one of the options before voting to adjourn the meeting and splitting up into smaller groups. For 55 years, males and females ranging from ages nine to 19 have joined together to learn more about the fields of electricity and electronics in the FuseBusters 4-H Club. Each member of the group creates a project to be shown at the county fair.
